I hate to kind of agree with this point.
I really want to believe that most of Anet's focus is going towards GW2, but with the lack of, well, anything about it, it's a tough thing to keep believing.
And I really, really hate to bring up this point since it's being beaten to death already, but the problems with the XTH are starting to make me believe that they aren't focusing on the current game either.
...So what does that leave, exactly?

Haha why do you still post here? For months, every post you claim how you are no longer going to buy GW2 because there is no info for it, and you always claim you'll be buying Blizzards games because they have screenshots and videos. Nobody believes your lies, we all know you'll be buying GW2 the first hour it's available at a store in your area. ArenaNET could purposely not release any info on GW2 right up to the moment it's released, just to spite you, and you would still buy it the first chance you got.
GW2 has been in development less than 2 years, and you expect screenshots and gameplay videos? Diablo 3 has been in development for close to 4 years now, and there's less than 1 to go. Of course they have videos of it, the game is about to come out so they are advertising and hyping it.

I am pretty sure its been more than 4 years. Plus look at Star Craft when was it released. 1998? its a decade and a bit IF they started then and there.. Regardless fans new its gonna come out and yet the trailer was announced only in 2007 so its about 8 years of complete and utter silence... Blizzard backside lickers forget about that alot of times =)

Well, I think same as O.P, only that I'm not sure it means they can't give us a tiny bit of info. to dwell on... Like, just tell us some lore, or some stuff which you know WILL be in the other games anyway, just tell us something! Duke Nukem Forever had shown more lifesigns than GW2, and thats kinda bad...

Ludicrous.
So, if they showed some screenies and gameplay videos everyone would STFU about Guild Wars 2 being dead? Doubtful.
The very fact that Duke Nukem Forever supposedly had screenies and videos, and was still fake, just shows how stupid this comment is!
Quit comparing Duke Nukem to Guild Wars 2. Duke Nukem Forever was announced in April, 1997. Over 12 years ago. The last game made by 3D Realms (DNF developer) was Shadow Warrior, released May 13, 1997. Yeah, I never heard of it either. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_Warrior
So, yeah, when NCSoft sues ArenaNet for failing to deliver, when they fire Guild Wars co-founder and Guild Wars 2 Executive Director Mike O'Brien, when GW2 has been in development for 12 years.... then you can start making comparisons.
Until then, people like you are just trying to stir up controversy where there is none.
It been 2 years people. Nothing surprising about a company not giving out screenshots of their game after 2 years in development. The only thing ArenaNet did wrong was imply there was going to be betas in the end of 2008.... obviously a mistake they are not going to repeat by making foolhardy comments on release dates or fuel speculation by releasing screenshots.
As for lore, there is going to be a series of books filling in the gaps between Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2.... but I'm sure people will complain about that as well.

I agree with the zero information about GW2, I prefer focus more in GW1 info, updates, because that is the GW I am playing, not GW2.
I want GW2 to be a superior and high quality game, so if they need 2 more years, is good for me.

If GW2 is coming in 6 months they should be telling us loads
12 months away we could expect them to tell us something new soon.
More than 12 months away saying anything is pointless.
They are caught in a trap because they were ending one game early and had to tell us not to worry GW2 was on the way.
Whatever they do or say it will be deemed wrong.
The only right thing way to do it was to give GW1 a couple more additions while working on GW2.
It seems they didn't have the resources to do that
I am a pretty slow player not having finished NF or Eye yet so I have plenty of play left.

I went with no 2 the little I know the better as I playing something that better resemble GW2.To Ghost Omer listen to Kuntz and how you aren't on TGH atm?
It better include more elements from other traditional MMOs as well or it will turn out the same as GW.

The devs know people will not boycott their game just because there was less information out about it.
Basically, they know you are a sucker, they either have you or they don't, and they can treat you like shit as much as they like, because in the end it won't matter.

Where did she say this? Only mention of PAX I recall from Regina was a response in the GW2 concept art thread where she said someone in the thread is very astute - which was right after someone mentioned possibly that GW2 info could be at the PAX. Well, two people I believe - after that statement I brought up the "big splash" statement and that it could be at PAX.
So where did Regina list things off of what will be at PAX?
Edit:
A quick search of Regina's posts and I found this:

And yes ArenaNet will be at PAX. (And so will Aion and City of Heroes). :-)

And of course, I found your response to posts later:

Just to tell you, Regina said nothing about what Anet will bring. So GW2 info can be there. I'd assume your assumption was poorly thought out - no offense intended, but Regina's statement does not say whether GW2 will be mentioned there or not. Especially since it was said (somewhere, can't recall where) that GW2 info will be released "later this year" - best time would be at PAX.

I've come to expect the least from Anet since sustained management has gone to crap since they began work on GW2. The whole reason people are clamoring for info is because GW1 is sorely neglected. We know that GW1 is only getting half assed (as was the whole EOTN in my opinion) BECAUSE of GW2 production. I think we're all ok about that reason, but when we can't see the result of all this diverted effort that has left players in the shithouse?
They have a cop-out for GW1, but we cant see proof of the cop-out.
Taking the fact that updates are increasingly delayed and buggy... Regina's "later this year" statement will mean Dec. 31st, 2009 (this year). And thats assuming they won't pull the same bs as last year. BETA END OF 2008 ANYONE?

Anet won't say anything until at least the end of September when Aion goes live, but I am not expecting anything until December or January. NCSoft making a large profit is a positive for Anet, so they will allow the Aion hype to run its course before they will even imply anything about GW2.

I don't think they're worried about people boycotting the game, because very few geeks are that hardcore in their umbrage at gaming companies... but the risk that they do face, is that people will grow bored of the wait, give up hope of the game being released any time soon, and, not being kept 'hanging on' by tidbits of information about the game, they'll move on, they'll find other games to play, and they might not come back to the franchise if they get 'hooked' into another MMO or MMO-like game...

Trust me, everyone will be playing GW2, other MMO's wont stand a chance against it.

Well, given the number of players that lost interest during GW1's lifetime, while the game was still active (that is, while expansions were still being released), I'm sure that some people, somewhere, might not make the move to GW2, as they're already lost to WoW, WAR, any of the slew of free MMOs (and the large number of premium MMOs transitioning to the free model). But yes, I hope you are right, and ArenaNet is successful with GW2.
I don't doubt that the retention rate for people who are still commenting on Guild Wars in forums such as this will be quite high indeed.
